That's true. $333 million down the drain. |
Who's to blame for that? The government or the terrorists? |
Jointly to blame, but the gov't thereby fulfills the terrorist's aim. |

Congrats to the police on that score. Taking him alive was a coup. Great work, boys in blue. |

Agreeing with Titus on this. Doesn't matter who does it (military, police, FBI, etc.) the act is still the same.
Its the precedence that bothers me. I know I can be labled a conspiracy nut for this but FEMA has provisions in case of a 'national' emergency to suspend basic constitutional rights on the masses on the area affected.
Its 'American' not to trust the government with that kind of power. Eventually someone corrupts it. Its the one person who will that is the worry and he will have precedence on his or her side to do it.
I'm not law enforcement and we are asked to 'trust' their judgment and I am at the disadvantage of not knowing the details but I think we have the technological (cctv, etc) and the policing skills to do this without shutting down cities. |
Oh, the ignorance of youth...

People are now out on the streets, cheering, thanking, and hugging the police officers. |

They had to get him as soon as possible - nobody around Boston wanted any more Red Sox games canceled! |

The homeowner who discovered the suspect's blood in his boat had just come out of the house following the cessation of the 'curfew.' |

Yes it is the governments fault, and of course Amerika's
If they had not shut the city down and something really bad had happened, say a car jacking gone bad think of the reaction. This was the safe way
This is not anything new. long before 9/11 and homeland security if a dangerous , armed person was on the loose, they would shut areas down. I experienced this in Atalnta after a bank holup where two people were shot , they shut down about two large neighbor hoods. i can remember hundred s of cops, helicopers and roadblocks.
Cops did a good job taking him alive. This is such a strange story, two brothers? Really sad. |

There is more than one way to look at the measures taken.
For much of the day, they thought there was a 3rd terrorist headed for NYC. The two known suspects had had Tuesday, Wednesday, and part of Thursday (not to mention the days before the attack) to stash other bombs around the Boston area. Given that belief, it was not absurd for the authorities to take measures to protect the public.
I don't remember where I read it, but someone said shutting down a whole city is a strong message to anyone out there contemplating an attack that we would do anything and everything necessary, including shutting down a major city, to catch and punish them.
I for one am amazed they solved a very difficult case in only 4 days. And grateful. |

I am proud of the police, but I am very anxious about the measures taken. If some random group of nutters looking for attention realizes that they can shut down a city, they will do it. Whatever the consequences to themselves. |

The Boston police were great. They risked heavy assault and firepower and captured one of their suspects alive.
It was Hope 'N Change Junior who ordered the shutdown.

You're mistaken in your belief of who your use of that spelling makes look foolish. |
