im travelling to seoul on the weekend (to make up for the fact that i forgot my gfs birthday yesterday). id like to take her somewhere interesting apart from shopping.
Are there any interesting art or museum exhibitions this weekend?

| Lol, "Seoul" and "Cultural events" don't belong in the same sentence. Dude, this ain't south France, Italy, or even Japan. Remember you're in Dae han min guk. About the only culture you're gonna get is the adjosshi hockin' loogies in front of the ol' 711. |

The annual Lotus Lantern Festival is on Sunday near Insa-dong. |

You make a good point. Ain't much of cultural significance in Seoul. At least in rural areas you have pleasant temples in wooded areas. That's about as much culture that you'll see in Korea. It wasn't exactly 5000 years well spent.  |

good god, is this what i sound like when i korea bash? Ill never do it again...
anyway, what im referring to is for example;
the van Gogh exhibition i went to,
the tim burton exhibition i went to,
the man ray photography exhibition i went to,
the modern art and impressionist exhibition ii went to,
the two gunter von hagens body worlds exhibitions i went to,
the andy Warhol and pop art exhibition i went to,
(and the edward hopper exibit i think i missed a couple of months ago...)
etc. etc. etc. etc etc.
you know, stuff like that that apparently never comes to korea... |

This post is either a decent troll post or by someone who is just plain dumb.
Anyways, Seoul has an impressive arts scence. Plus it tends to be younger than in Europe and North America.
And most importantly there are quit a few hot chicks lurking the art galleries and exhibits of this city. |

Sorry dude I don't know of anything in particular.
But with Buddha's Birthday coming next Friday I would perhaps recommend going to COEX at Samsung Station on the Green Line.
You can visit the nearby Bongeumsa Buddhist Temple which is quite nice. Then do some shopping at COEX, watch a movie at the huge Megabox theater in the mall and have dinner at On the Border or something.
I've done this one before and had a good time with the lady friend. |
