hello everybody, i'm moroccan, 19yo and i wanna study in korea and live there. What do you think about it? my parents are against the idea because korea is too far from Morocco and i'm too "young" to live alone in the countryside. but i have some friends who are studying there and have no problems and enjoy living there (lucky them).
ah and i wanna ask you, what kind of part time job can i have?and how much can i earn per hour/month ? unfotunately i can't teach eng. but i can't be my parent's dependent for my whole life.
plz i need your advice
by the way i'm studying medecine and after spending the whole year studying it i felt like it isn't my thing, so i manage to study design in korea (my 2 biggest dreams ever)...what are the best universities to study in the korean language and design?
thank you and sorry for the bad english. |

You're right, you can't teach English, at least not legally. You're best bet on that front is to sucker someone into paying you for private lessons while you're on a tourist visa. Your ability to do that will depend on your command of the language and your salesmanship.
Sounds like you should apply to some Korean universities as a full-time student and try to get a large scholarship. Are you an overseas Korean? |

no i'm not korean , i already applied for korean courses in SNU, i don't know if i should apply for another university, i think i ll begin with the 2nd lvl cuz i learn korean online and i can speak it a little.
after that i ll apply as a full time student but i don't know witch University i should pick.
for the scholarship, i heard about GKS or niied scholarship, i know that the deadline for applying is september or december but i don't know how to apply (the ambassy keep telling me that i can do it without consulting them, but i don't think so..)

There are many part time jobs for students in which aren't teaching. However most are taken by Japanese on working holiday visas.
They mainly work in Restaurants and Bars, plus selling cosmetics on the streets in the touristy areas. However the pay is low, your Korean skills need to be high and you first need the correct visa to legally work.
Most of the big unis have a recruitment center which can help you out. |

I think it's great that you want to get out on your own and do something with your life at such a young age.
I recommend getting a scholarship to help with expenses. it might take a lot of effort to get the right information, but you will be glad to have a scholarship later. You can only work so much while being a student, and the jobs don't pay that well. |
