Yes they certainly would. However, alas I do not see this happening. Alex Saballa has weapons of footballing mass destruction at his disposal, and with the decent group draw the Albiceleste have been handed, Messi, Aguero, Higuan, Di Maria, Tevez et al are certainly going to be giving a few teams major nose-bleeds and whippings hopefully crafted with breathtaking football and stunning goals. However, Argentina is still a 'BBB' team (Brilliant But Brittle) that lacks the cohesion, defensive reliability and psychological steel to carry off the trophy. Overall, I feel Messi and friends are going to make a massive contribution to the tournament, but sadly not as eventual winners. |
