Hello everyone!

I just got a notification that I've been accepted to teach at a middle school in Gimhae, just outside of Busan. I start March 1st.

Is anyone else currently living in this area?
Can anyone give me any tips?

Or, would anyone in the area like to hang out after I arrive? I know absolutely no one over there, haha.

I'm a 27 year old American girl who's traveled Europe extensively, taught in France twice, and am super pumped to come to South Korea.

All I know is that it's an airport town.

I like Gimhae.

There is an area near the king's tomb museum/park that has a whole bunch of authentic ethnic restaurants all in the same 4 square blocks: thai, vietnamese, burmese, indonesian, chinese, russian, uzbeki, moroccan, etc.

In Korean I think the area is called the 다 문화거리.

It's foodie paradise!

And the monorail is just cool~

Gimhae is nice in general and thanks to development in recent years has become far more connected to Busan proper. It is now far easier to get from Gimhae to Busan than it was.

It is near the airport and has some decent options. If you want more action Busan is near enough. It still takes a while to get into the busier areas of Busan via public transit but Gimhae is no longer considered the "boonies".

Good luck.
