I just went to the LG store to get a new phone. I found out that after going 2 years without changing phones, you get a discount (about 150,000 won). Also, if you spread your new phone payments out over two years of payments, you get a substantial discount (250,000 won). But then suddenly, I wasn't eligible to do the 2 year payment, I had to pay cash all at once. That's fine, I have the cash, but it meant that I could not get the 250,000 won discount for using payments instead of cash. (I was looking at the Vega Iron phone). So I figure I will buy the phone on the internet for cheaper than the store and just take it in to change my service over.
I am not writing to complain or moan, of course the reason is that they have had foreigners leave the country with their phones never having completed payments. I just wonder if this was the policy of just LG, just this store, (just this manager?).
Has anyone had experiences getting the discount for spreading payments over 2 years? Was it with LG? was it with another carrier. Should I try another store or carrier? I was at the LG store at front gate of HongDae university.
