Anyone been? Are beaches nice? Affordable places, hopefully beachfront, for less 1000/night? Aircon/tv/etc obviously not required, just a nice (clean) place to sleep by the beach. Locations?

Also read/heard that renting your own moto is recommended. Are the roads driveable/paved for the most part? Any info appreciated.

Looking to go in June/July. (I dream ahead!) Laughing

"Siquijor!! I love hearing what Filipinos have to say about this place!! They are scared to death of that island!! Just makes me want to go more.

I just heard another Siquijor story about how some Manila college girl went to Siquijor with her friend, and was suppose to be sacrificed to their witchcraft or whatever it was. But she escaped, so they made a national movie about her."

A main reason why Siquijor didn't get hurt/damaged much by the typhoon was due to 'witchcraft', as well. Rolling Eyes

Yet another reason to check it out-- many places in northern cebu were pretty well hit. Lots of construction, and if done, a rise in prices, as well, in places like Malapascua and/or Bantayan...

I wanted to go a couple of years ago but the Filipino girl I wanted to go with told me "they poison tourists they don't like" on that island. I don't know, I am mostly affable but still we ended up not going.

They place to stay, recommended to me was: http://www.siquijorcasa.com/beach_resort_siquijor.htm

Really cannot recommend Siquijor enough. It is basically the destination that most people have been looking for. Lovely island, white sand, turquoise sea, diving, snorkeling, jungle trekking, waterfalls. Not so many tourists but enough infrastructure and stuff going on to make it still fun. Rent scooters and ride around the island.

JJ Backpackers cafe in Siqujior makes the best food I have ever had in the Philippines bar none.

Lornas at the End of the World and JJ Backpackers are the two budget choices there. Coral Cay is a more middle range/ upmarket choice . Coconut Grove is the best high end resort on the island.

Thanks-- most of the 'beach action' is on the west coast/by Coconut, right? Best to get there first, or stay by the port/town and rent bikes from there? Let me guess-- cheaper places at the port, nicer/more expensive on the beach...Can the beach be done for 1000/night or less?
