I hear this often, so I'd like to know how many of you out in Asia believe there WILL be an Asian War soon?

It could be N.Korea vs S.Korea, USA and Japan

It could be Peoples Republic of China vs Japan (and USA)

It could be a new Power in Asia flexing its Fascist wings...lets say the City State of Singapore or The Muslim Brotherhood of Indonesia.

War, as a form of folly or greed, is probably inevitable. But war is inevitable as any disaster or black swan event might be inevitable. Affirmatively predicting war also becomes folly, and the prediction of a specific conflict can become a fulfilling prophecy which leads to a war which might otherwise have been avoided.

Uuuuummmmmm, take a look-- plenty of 'Asian' wars-- Afghanistan, Iraq, Palestine, Syria, take your pick.

It's difficult to say where a war in Asia will start. Is there any country in Asia that is not severely dysfunctional with a populace or ethnic group that is not the tool of some dictator and blaming someone else for being the root cause of all their misery and suffering. Every single Asian country has a culture that interferes with the education of the populace and damages business and trade. The Asian people are their own worst enemies. Although Japanese, Koreans and Taiwanese clearly don't rank as bad as most.

Russia Japan and China all jostling in the same area. The U.S with it's interest also in play. Northeast Asia had three wars the last century. Dosn' mean that war is inevitable but if the U.S weakens or loses its resolve it could get dicey. All three wars involved Korea in some way or other. Korea is the strategic key to the region.

I can see China going after Siberia. Or something starting up over Taiwan.

Siberia having a population of about 40 million, and maybe 4 million being actual original natives of Siberia. China can claim it's freeing Asia for Asians.

As for North Korea. I think China just wants to wash their hands of them. So if an opportunity ever arose for a peaceful takeover of NK by Seoul, and a unified Korea not being outright hostile to Chinese interests, they'd find it acceptable.

Imagine that. Wasn't that Japan's outlook prior to and during WWII? Actually China would like to appear that way on the surface 'free the poor Asians from the colonial West', in reality they're just a truly rapacious country. Turn Asia into 'Hanland' and liquidate as much of the resources as possible. Imagine if China was in a position to just take the Middle East Oil with nothing in return? I can bet you they would have. Did you see the comparison of money pledged for Ebola between countries. Last I heard China pledged a few million. Laughing
