Next month I'm done with South Korea/teaching in South Korea.
I'm heading to Pattaya to relax, get out of the urban jungle/rate race to do some self improvement before heading to teach in mainland China.
I want to stay in Thailand because it's cheap, tourist/foreigner friendly, near by, good internet/convenient etc.
Specifically Pattaya because it seems to be about the cheapest place (for what I am looking for). Pattaya seems to be cheaper than Phuket, about the same as Chiang Mai BUT I find being near the water to be relaxing (Chiang Mai is not near the ocean). Yes Pattaya has the sin city reputation but it's whatever you make it.
The airbnb site and some places that I found through google searching seeem nice enough and reasonably priced. HOWEVER it seems that a place that puts work into a fancy web site may be charging higher than a lesser known place that seasoned Pattaya travellers may be familiar with.
Suggestions for places in "central Pattaya" (I understand that that's the part of Pattaya that I'll want to be living in) for a 2-3 month stay are most appreciated. Just a small room, private bathroom, air con, fridge and wifi are all I need.
Thanks in advance. |

I strongly recommend the Phratamnak hill area.
You will need a motorbike to get around, but you can rent them really cheap by the month.
I would not recommend anywhere in Pattaya central area. Really busy and noisy.
I rented a room from craigslist there and really enjoyed it.
I think there are line 7 different "view Taley" buildings, all good for month long rentals. |
