Help?

You make it seem like we said, "Gee, fellas, would you mind giving us a hand with this?"

Well I am sure the languages varied, but that is pretty accurate.

The Spanish did not conquer swathes of Central and South America with a few hundred foot soldiers and calvary. They enlisted the support of allies who provided them with tens of thousands of levies which when combined with the superior tech and tactics of the Europeans, proved unbeatable.

This pattern was repeated the world over.

Then there was the good old fashioned divide and conquer approach. The Indian Mutiny was put down thanks to the generous support of the Sikhs who had only been recently conquered three years before. There were also very few rebellions in support of the mutineers outside of the Bengal Presidency.

Think of it like this, Britain managed to run Sudan relatively peacefully for half a century with just 50 odd administrators and a few thousand garrison troops. They governed because their rule was advantageous to some groups and they therefore helped to maintain European rule.

The second that changed it didn't really take much to kick the Europeans out. Granted if the European rulers chose to fight it was a lot more complicated, however, the result was exactly the same.

Fair enough old timer.

You don't think that peoples from lands conquered by Europeans collaborated and worked with the invaders for their own gain.

You are wrong.

Since this seems to be the topic folks really want to debate on the EU Migrant Crisis thread, to the fore!

Lets consider Palestinian women for a moment.

Before that, let's consider some other factors.

Palestine is a place that was partitioned and gave some ethnic groups a state and the other, the one its named after- The Palestinians, it did not.

Palestine is a place where that ethnic group maintains effective control over them and in which they have limited rights, and a serious lack of economic opportunities.

A bit late but I just saw this now. Actually Palestine was NOT named after the Palestinians.

Quote:
In AD 135, the Emperor Hadrian blotted out the name “Provincia Judea” and renamed it “Provincia Syria Palaestina”. This was the Latin version of the Greek name and soon became a name to be used as an administrative unit. This name was shortened to Palaestina and the name “Palestine” was derived from it as a modern and anglicized version

http://www.palestinefacts.org/pf_early_palestine_name_origin.php

And as for the remark in your next post...the quote below...that is not exactly accurate either.

Quote:
You glossed over the other clauses in my statement- namely the fact that for a long time the Palestinians themselves do not have a state under which they can pass suBch laws, and still to this day have merely an 'authority'

The PA runs the West Bank. However the other so-called part of "Palestine" (Gaza) is run by Hamas and it passes and administers laws as it sees fit.
