Casey Kasem, the resonant voice of Top 40 radio and a vocal fixture on cartoon programs for the past 40 years, has died, according to his daughter. He was 82.
Kasem died Sunday of Lewy body disease, a common form of progressive dementia. Daughter Kerri Kasem confirmed her father’s death in a Facebook post on Father’s Day.

Well, what can you say. A ubiquitous part of our youth, for those of a certain age. Scooby-Doo, America's Top 40, and I wasn't aware that he had done voices for Sesame Street.
And he was also an activist on behalf of Arab-Amercian rights and other political issues.

Kasem was also an outspoken advocate on issues. A member of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, he was critical of Hollywood's portrayal of Arabs in film. His activism was not limited. In 1989, he told then-USA TODAY columnist Larry King that one of his "proudest moments" was being arrested for protesting a nuclear weapons installation. "I'd do it again, gladly," Kasem told King.

How about the rights of arabs in arab countries? That would be a more pressing concern. |

"Keep your feet on the ground, but keep reaching for the stars"
I'll never forget that part. And the long distance dedications. |

Apparently he was well liked by people in the industry and well respected. Guy stayed employed in a very tough market. Great voice. |
