It would have been better if the article outlined the type of drugs being brought in. They could have been actual medication brought in by mistake, supplements for building muscle or actual drugs that are illegal in most countries. The fact that it does not suggests that the article is more about creating the 'all foreigners are perverted drug users' impression than actually informing the public.
A belated Merry Christmas to all !!! |

63 out of 284 cases involved foreign drug smugglers. So the other 221 cases involved Korean drug smugglers. There is something definitely wrong with the title of this thread. |

The problem is with the troll that wrote it. |

I don't think there is anything wrong with the title. Try reading the article guys, it's only short. It clearly states that "Language instructors topped the list."
That's not trolling. That's called a quotation. It is based upon a numerical fact.
The article is also pointing to a trend that is getting worse for foreigners, not better. |

Number of Foreigners Smuggling Drugs into Korea Rising
Write : 2014-12-27 13:18:50 Update : 2014-12-27 13:27:44
Data from the customs office at Incheon International Airport shows the number of foreigners trying to smuggle drugs into Korea is on the rise.
Out of the 284 cases reported this year as of the end of November, 63 were linked to foreigners, rising from the 47 cases found last year over the same eleven-month period.
Language instructors topped the list, with 23 trying to bring drugs into Korea this year, followed by manual laborers, students, businessmen and military soldiers.
Those from the U.S. took up the largest number among the drug smugglers at 49, followed by China, Thailand, Australia and the U.K. |

To be fair, it was an out of context quotation the way you used it in the thread title. |

What a way to interpret the data.... 284/23 that's only 8% of the total number of people who tried to smuggle drugs in. Shouldn't they be focusing on the other 221 Koreans who tried to smuggle drugs in? |

I dont see a problem with anything that was written.
Foreign teachers topped the list among foreign drug smugglers. The numbers backed up their claim.
Am I missing something? |

Well foreigners make up like 2% of Korea's population. Yet 63/284 are caught smuggling drugs in. A disparity in representation. Were all of those 63 visa holders? |
