I know for a fact EPIK wants White young pretty blond girls and not older male non-white males.. Provincial Office of Education bosses call the head office of EPIK in Seoul and ask for WHite, pretty, young girls, and say do not send us Brit Latin/Pak/ Indi./black men.

They put in that clause "We are not permitted to release information" [....about us hating non-white males we have to pay the top salary for.] so they do not tell non-white guys the truth.

All good for you accursed EPIK office racist. Go ahead and hire a white careless party girl who is gonna get raped in Korea or kidnapped and killed on vacation in Thailand. Do not hire a hard target level headed man who would finish his contract. Yeah before you say I am trolling go check how many female teachers are abused in South Korea or how many older expat men are kidnapped in SE Aisa... the answer ummm is ZERO guys in Korea get gender related priblems whereas tons of ladies get either butt stroked at dinners at the least or sexually assaulted in thier apartmenrs at worst. And before you say lame drunk fighting expat men are a problem I will point you to just as many knocked put drunk female teachers who are injured and hungover at work.

Then the sensible education magnet and charter Korean schools will hire me for more money cuz they know I won't crack in Korea.

Sorry to hear. Never easy to deal with rejection, but the older we get, and the longer we work in education, the more we realize it happens more frequently than we'd like.

What, exactly, are your qualifications and experience level? EPIK jobs have shrunk in number, but there are a load of experienced teachers here, many with their MA in hand.

EPIK doesn't hire for all public schools in Korea. You might try the other counties that don't use EPIK or GEPIK. As for other localities, Saudi Arabia is to be avoided. If you can get hired by some of the other Gulf State countries you might be OK there. China doesn't pay near as much as Korea and you have to deal with the pollution, which believe it or not is seriously bad.

There is a distinct possibility that any given educational employer, in any given country in the world, will seek out candidates with a particular, multifaceted skill-set. When it comes to English teaching, I would assume that a highly competent command of one's native language would be high on the list. Judging by your narrative (questionable understanding of grammar, and oftentimes poor syntax), this could have been an issue in your case. As other posters have alluded to, it could also be due to a lack of core qualifications in the context of professionalization - a lack of MA for instance...

What seems redundant, but in some respects an expected reaction to rejection, is an attempt to essentialize the country and culture. Many people are caught at different intersections, and different individuals will suffer from institutionalized stigma based on those intersections of class, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, and so on. If you are a member of one or more of these marginalized groups, then success will inevitably require more resilience and hard-work than for those privileged and thus powerful. The solution is not to resort to the same violent oppression that you yourself feel a victim of...

You resort to a mindless classification of women as an argument. According to you, white women, and in particular blonde women, will inevitably be careless and a poor choice of candidate. According to you, a woman who acts in such a manner would inevitably get raped due to her own actions. According to you, a woman who behaves like this in Asia would most likely be victimized and sexually assaulted by patriarchal men abound.

So, the fundamentally unintelligent crux of your argument is as follows: I am a minority male who has been rejected. This rejection is because Korean people in general are racist. I am an older male who has been rejected. This rejection is because Korean men want young, white, party girls to discriminate upon on a whim. I have been marginalized, so I will now marginalize others. I will assume all young white females are reckless. I will state boldly that their recklessness is the cause of the majority of sexual assault in Asia, and thus lay the blame of gender based violence on their door-step. I will fashion an argument in support of men by systematically demeaning women. I will lay down some fleeting facts (probably found from Wikipedia) about a disconnected issue such as kidnap. I will assume that because less men are kidnapped, and face gender discrimination less, they are more qualified to teach.

Smells like bullshit to me. Sounds like EPIK made the correct decision.

I bought my land, car, and home wit all my Corea and Other goldz I rightfully gained teachering! I am legit and was rehired eva and anon each year in Corea. I know 4 a fact from a direct source in Soel Citty office that Icheon and Posan made statements lamenting over the Pakistani Brit and other nonwhite ole males that EPIK pushed through and sent to the provinces. If I want I can send u PMs of me with really nice Koreans or with Seal team 6 (no joke I swapped 50 cal wit demswimming in ordnance guys ) I have references from lots of teachers saying how great I teach.

Get a job at a public school in Chungnum. Last I looked they did their own hiring. They may be pretty corrupt too though, who knows.

However I will probably take a 15 grand a month job (it is less than 15 if u do not count flights housing and extars) in an Arab country again. I was the coolest professor ever and it is a wonder my students are not all rich oil barons by now after my most excellent instruction. I don't know I did really like Korea though- Arab land kids did not seem as impressed by me when I happened by them in the park unlike Korean children who often sought to chat or poke me recognizing my inate goodlyness.

But, yeah EPIK is sooo racist- I never did find out what happened to that poor raped South African girl who was assaulted in her Korean apartment. I honestly still feel terrible for her remembering that creepy horrific nightmare true story. Just from a utilitarian level it is smarter for Pubskools to hire hard target tough vet antipaladins like me and avoid the white haired elf angel weak females. God forbid any bad thing happens to bright eyed guiless girls hired by stupid shallow cheap EPIK but the fact is no Thai guy is gonna kidnap a huge monster like me and no shady taxi driver ever assaulted a supa cool English Male Master like me.
