E2 holder at a hagwon. I wanted to confirm something if that is okay.
If l want to leave early and l do not get a letter of release from my current employer am l not allowed to start another position until the date in my contract has passed? That date is February next year.
Some people have said that l could do a visa run if l acquire new documents but l haven't tried to substantiate that until now, is this true? |

Without a LOR you will be unable to switch to a D10 or transfer to a new employer.
Doing a visa run and starting over again with a complete NEW set of documents is a mixed bag with about a 50% chance of success.
If it works then great BUT this will depend as much on the immigration officer when you try to get a new visa sorted as anything else.
They have the option to approve or deny based on nothing more than whether they had their morning coffee & state of their hangover that day or not.
If not then your options are to:
a) hang around as a tourist doing 90-day visa runs to get a new tourist entry,
b) change countries for a year or 10 (there are decent options for anyone with Korean experience).
c) Go sit on a beach in the Philippines or Thailand and wait for your time to run out and then start again since you will be more than 90 days off of your E2.
Pick one.
