These are critical points I wish to highlight. The automatic swell and ebb in response to economic downturns makes SNAP superior to ad hoc stimulus legislation. Particularly when you consider how stimulus legislation is actually crafted and haggled over. The government escapes the problem of selecting shovel-ready projects among a district-oriented gaggle of politicians.
SNAP also has run a long time. So its administrators have learned how to keep it humming with minimal waste and misallocation. Maybe we keep this one? |
