Hello, very close to accepting this as my first Korean job. Would just like some assistance with these sections of the contract if that's okay, everything else seems fine to me but some fresh eyes on these small points would be great.
Salary
The Employee will be guaranteed ( 2.2 ) Million Won per month (before tax) for teaching (100) hours or (140) classes per monthly session (1 class is 40 min.). This is to be considered as the Employee’s contract hours.
Working Hours
The employee will be required to supervise daily kindergarten snack time and monthly kindergarten field trip lunch time with no pay
Vacation and Holidays
The Employee will have short-term breaks between sessions as determined by the Employer (in total approximately 7 days). The Employee will have public holidays detailed in a yearly calendar (in total approximately 7 days).
Taxes
The following taxes and deductions will be withheld from the Employee’s monthly salary:
200,000 Won per month for two months as an apartment deposit for unpaid utilities and phone charges even if the Employee pays them each month. This deposit WILL BE refunded to the Employee in cash after eight ( months of employment.
As I said, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |

All of that sounds horrible. Run away from this contract immediately.
Unpaid time for working is illegal. Plus you are entitled to an hour break for every 8 hours of work. That 1 hour break cannot be interrupted and you may use it freely per LSA.
140 classes will make you hate life, that is too many classes for only 2.2.
They cannot withhold money from your paycheck except for medical insurance, pension, and taxes. Withholding for apartment is illegal. |
