Hello! We are looking for a couple's position starting around August 2018. Ideally we would like to work at University, public school, or international school. However, we would not be opposed to a good hagwon.
If there are any couples out there who are leaving around this time and need replacements, please let us know.
We are currently teaching in Korea. One of us has a M.A. in Education/1 year teaching in Korea; the other a B.A./120 hour TEFL/3 years teaching in Korea.
Thanks for any information! |

Not to get too personal, but are you married? That would constitute a 'couple's position'. Dating? Not so much.
For most university jobs, you'll need the MA plus 2 years of post degree university experience. Restrictions might be relaxed for colleges and universities away from major cities. Increasingly more difficult to find jobs for those with just the BA.
For most international school jobs, you usually need the MA plus certification plus experience in your home country. Lots of competition from qualified candidates and the jobs don't come up so often.
Public school jobs have diminished given new government policies, but you may be able to find some. Go thought one of the sanctioned recruiters. Odds diminish for dual couple's slots.
If you're dead set on working at the same place, institutes may well be your most expedient option. Do your homework. You both have experience in Korea, so you know that some institutes have horrendous track records. Best advice is to stick with the larger chains in major cities with better reps.
Good luck! |

So, I know I have a thread earlier in this forum about my employers not paying us, but the situation has completely fixed itself (I'd understand if you still didn't trust it though). If you haven't seen my post, essentially my employer bought another Hagwon and took on 3 new teachers because of it and kind of screwed everyone who works here financially for like 2 months. He apologized, admitted his screw up and what happened, now pays us on time, and even gave us a cash bonus to make up for it. It's been about 2 months now and we've had no more problems with pay. We were pissed but, other than what happened, the job has been pretty chill and the kids are wonderful. The bosses are also pretty chill and will even take you along on their family vacations and take you out to restaurants on the regular (I've even gone out drinking with my male boss a few times). We're leaving because Geoje is boring and we need to be in a bigger city (it's very beautiful here and has amazing beaches, but it's so tiny and the people who live here are kinda lame suburban soccer mom types--- aka, no good live music to be found anywhere).
We took a "couple position" here, but we informed them that we're not married or even dating. We're just friends that wanted to room together and they were cool with it. They even moved us out of the studio apartment they originally gave us and moved us into a 2 bedroom apartment a 7 minute walk from the school (you'd be moving into this apartment because they signed a 2 year lease on it). Pay isn't too great though (2.1 million won a month), so not sure if you'd want the position. Hours are very low though (I work 26 hours a week). I work 4 hours on Monday and Wednesday, and 6 hours on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Message me if you're interested.
Also, cost of living is low enough that I'll have paid off 15k in student loans by this summer! Woo! |

I appreciate the advice and have found a lot of the same information when researching. I was hoping that by posting on the forums we could find a couple who is leaving and needs replacements. Sometimes it's all about who you know, you know? |
