I was told yesterday my hagwon is to close for a week, annoying the parents and losing money. The reason? the poor supervisor has worked 2 years solid without a holiday. They ignored her requests all that time and now she's finally threatened to quit. Because nobody else has been trained to do her job, they agreed to close the school temporarily to give her a break, on condition she continues working there afterwards. Takes your breath away doesn't it... |

Elder teacher?
Do you sit 'round the ol' campfire and weave yarns of time gone past? "back in my day...." (imagine Mark Twain's voice)
Or do you mean the most "senior"? |

A hogwon can do without a supervisor for a few weeks. If teachers do their jobs, there should be no problem. Obviously the owner is not a good business manager. |
Possibly the supervisor wears many hats, including teacher. But I agree with your assessment about the owner.

That's nothing. We actually dropped a group of kids because the bus driver decided he wanted to take his dinner break at a certain time...and that meant he couldn't pick up some kids at an apartment complex on the outer edge of our dong.
Please note we are a smallllll hagwon. A group of students makes a difference!
Then the director complains of not having enough students.
The bus driver even ended up dictating when we closed for our last winter break.
If I think too much about the business practices here my head will explode. |

How does a bus driver dictate terms in his job?
Is he the owner's father? |
