So I have come to the conclusion that I am in the middle of brutal case of allergies, not a cold or flu. Back home, my alleriges usually act up in the spring and I'm usually miserable for about a week or so. How long is allergy season in Korea? I am in the south-west area of the country slightly outside of Gwangju if that helps.

Severe symptoms recur for 2 months I'm afraid. Extreme circumstances call for extreme measures, so wear a mask whenever you go outside, gargle with lukewarm salt water 3 times a day, get a good air purifier for your bedroom, keep your windows closed (and your fan off Wink ), and limit the time you spend outside. I know...it sounds awful, but it's much worse suffering from full-on allergies for 2 months straight.

P.S. Avoid dairy products and bananas as they cause a build-up of phlegm.

If you have an allergy, the allergy season lasts as long as you have an allergy.

If you don't have an allergy, there is no allergy season.

This applies to anywhere including Korea.

THE most important thing you need to do:

Find out: What your Allergic to! lol =]

seriously, many suffer from allergies and you can do it yourself or see a specialist

if your going to figure it out on your own 1st, find a good site that tracks Pollen and other allergy causing air pollutants like Grass, Hay, etc.

here in the States, National pollen counts sites such as:

http://www.pollen.com/allergy-weather-forecast.asp

are great.

also, it should take at least 2+ years depending on if your going to live in the same place and see what month your allergies 1st start and when they end

you have to find what triggers them and suffering from Allergies is definitely something you take care of

the above is good advice on purifying the air and pollutants around you as well

Some STELLAR advice! I'm sure your post has been infinitely helpful to the OP. As for the other poster suggesting going to a hospital here with regards to allergies, good luck with that. These Google medics here are as efficient as you and your mouse. Using your common sense and a little help from folks online will be of much greater benefit.

Good advice. I can speak from experience that once allergy season was over, my allergies cleared up. That's how I learned how long it lasted. However, I will not reveal this information because I forgot already.

Yes I believe it is.
With acuteness of perception, discernment, and understanding, I availed of my perspicacity and answered the OP's question clearly and correctly.

In your case...

"Severe symptoms recur for 2 months I'm afraid. Extreme circumstances call for extreme measures, so wear a mask whenever you go outside, gargle with lukewarm salt water 3 times a day, get a good air purifier for your bedroom, keep your windows closed (and your fan off Wink ), and limit the time you spend outside. you talk about anything beside the question that was asked.

And crikey, the OP did not specify what type of allergy it is, an allergy to pollen, an allergy to yellow dust, or an allergy to anything.

So there is no way in the world that anyone could give accurate info regarding the time period that the allergy would be in effect.

In any event, individuals are different and experience different reactions, and each person can have an allergy for different periods of time.

Avoid bananas ?

Thanks Princess Soraya! As it turns out, whatever pollen was bothering me evidently comes from something that blooms during the first part of April. Still not sure what it was, but my eyes stopped itching and watering about a week after I posted this question.

That is interesting about avoiding bananas during an allergy flare-up. I had never heard of that before. I had heard of avoiding dairy and gargling with saltwater. That does help!

Thanks again!

Now you finally say you are allergic to pollen. I see that "how long is the allergy season in Korea" is code for how long does the pollen last in Korea.

The pollen season is in the springtime in Korea, just like it is anywhere.

Pollen happens in springtime, don't you know.

Sorry for being so vague with my question, guavashake. Thanks for your input Smile
