George W. Bush - how dumb is he? |
Dumb like a rhino. You know, like something that just breathes a lot and wrecks stuff. Really, rhino dumb is like when you're too dumb to survive without the help of people who like rhinos. |

Carson Daly dumb. Dumb as dirt, but through a bit of undeserved good fortune you come into a position of influence, except you're too dumb to seize the opportunity and maybe prove that you're not as dumb as people think, because you really are that dumb. |

I'd guess that any of us, however bright, would quickly be made to appear as idiots under anything close to the scrutiny Bush gets. Likewise, I'd imagine he'd be as engaging as any of us over some beers in the bar.
Its the agenda of his "handlers" that scares me. |

Well if I as a prominent person would be bloody careful about what I said and would make sure it was not going to make me look like a complete moron.
Bush has done so much stuff to make himself look like an idiot he must be one. |

Why am I limited to casting my vote for only one option when the first three sound so wonderful? |

Yep. The "dumb" issue re: Bush is the biggest red herring around, and liberals are fooling themsleves if they think that they're scoring any points by beating this ad hominem into the ground.
Yeah, Bush is pretty thick. So what? Are his policies a result of his stupidity? Not likely, since these policies are contrived, executed, and defended by people who are a lot smarter than Bush(and probably most of us on Dave's), some of them even holding chairs at major universities. Bush is just the front man for these policies, and bringing his intelligence into the debate is a little like arguing that a particular automobile is structurally unsound because the actor who does their ads on TV doesn't know much about engineering.
LBJ wasn't the sharpest knife in the drawer, but he built the American welfare state AND plunged the nation full speed ahead into Vietnam, both policies which were devised by different factions of the American intelligentsia. Ever heard of the best and the brightest? Well, in many cases those warmongers really WERE the best and the brightest. The fact is, there is no neccessary connection between being smart and being ethical. A Ph.D can be just as selfish, corrupt, or blinded by ideology as a trade school graduate. This snickering "intellectualism" is just a respectable way for liberals to laugh at the less intelligent, by dressing their snobbery up as moral critique. |

Who cares? Yes, of course he is not the one making the real decisions. He is just the frontman puppet boy. So? Ever heard of fun? Look it up in your dictionary, or google it. That's right: F U N. Then slither back to your hole, you nasty party pooper, and let the happy little bunnies play! |

A stupid President is not necessarily a bad, or ineffective, President.
Look at Ronald Reagan. Not the sharpest tool in shed, but he was a very effective President. He had clear goals and surrounded himself with smart, focused people.
President Bush on the other hand is an idiot, surround by incompetent fools, and has no clear goals or strategies. |

Bush is dumb. Bush is really dumb. And...he's fairly stupid.
Hey, that was fun. No wonder many in this forum speak of the superiority of left-wing humor. |

Dumb or idiotic. History will probably not look at him that way. He is a pivotal president, like it or not. Sad, but true. |
