After reading the sticky for the umpteenth time.

What is the name of the subway station in Busan to get to the ferry?
One post in the sticky says there are no buses ranging from the Japanese ferry terminal. Can I safely ignore that statement?

Assuming there is a bus, is it the 55 to Diaei department store and then the 300 bus to Toys store.

All help appreciated.

I can't help you with much specifically.

I don't know the subway station in Busan, but the ferry terminal is VERY close to their main train station. If necessary, just go to that stop and pay the 1500 won for a cab to the ferry terminal.

I was in Fukuoka at the beginning of April. They have buses going to Tenjin and Hakarta station. Fukuoka's subway is pretty big, and Tenjin and Hakarta are both stops, so at the least you should be able to get where you want from there.

PM the guy living in Fukuoka. He's in the sticky if you need more detailed info.

Thanks for the reply.

I'm going to the Korean consulate, or at least, I want to. It sounds from your post that Hakarta terminal is not the name of the Japanese ferry terminal and that I need to get there first.

I think the sticky is very frustrating and ineffective and should be revised.

Do you know where you're staying in Fukuoka? You got to stay a night at least.

The bus 55 goes from the ferry terminal to Hakarta station. That's where I stayed. They have a couple of hotels behind it.

The Korean consulate is at Tojin-machi station. Take exit 1, walk straight out, and turn right on the next major street. Walk straight and the consulate will come up on the left. Bring your passport, 2 pictures, confirmation paper and 6000 yen.

Go back the next day and pick it up.

That's how I did it. It was a piece of cake.

Oh, thanks, that'll help a lot. I'm staying at the Central Hotel.

I'll be at the limit of my tourist visa and there's no room for errors, thus my neurotic tone. My school and recruiter just keep saying don't worry, but then can't tell me anything.

I should have insisted on getting the visa in my home country, which only involved 4 days.

Joongang subway station, maybe one or two after the Busan train station.

takes 10 minutes to walk, go left out of the subway and up the exit.....easy.

I would take the stop before Nampo-Dong, two stops after Busan station if you are going south. Nampo-Dong isn't far either.

I stayed in Central Hotel in Fukuoka when I did my run there. Small but a nice hotel, good room facilities, clean, free breakfast. A decent mall north of the hotel. A lingerie store there with smokin' women. A good stay.

Fukuoka is worth staying an extra day. A small train leaves from the main station for a nature preserve on a peninsula north of the city. Lots of greenery, wild monkeys on view, and you can rent a bicycle to take it all in.

I'm not a big sight-seer and in any case, the return trip seat is booked, but thanks for yr tip.

At the Japanese ferry terminal, I'll want to go straight to the consulate. Do I attempt to go to the Tojin Machi bus station or is this station via the Hakarta station?

By no means would that be the most efficient way, but it's probably the easiest. Take the first bus that goes to either Tenjin or Hakarta station from the ferry terminal. Now that you're at a subway station, you can hit up the Tojin-machi stop.
