am I the only one who though of them as brothers? They were obviously kids, 'cause what adult would talk to pidgeons or sing to a rubber duck?

( remember, Ernie didn't sing showtunes to the duck Wink )

Hey, I'm sure there are lots of us adults who like to sing, "Rubber Ducky." It's kind of a Buddhist thing, I think. Being able to take so much pleasure in the simple activities of everyday life. I'm definitely bringing my Rubber Ducky with me though he isn't real fond of showers.

And, of course, all this is just retaliatory satire for the wingnuts of the so-called "religious" right. Remember when Ayatollah Falwell declared that one of the Teletubbies was setting a negative example for children by modeling a homosexual lifestyle?

I was speaking of a generic class rather seeking to classify one individual as a member of that class. I realize that could have been a little confusing since there was one individual who famously displayed her thong panties as bait.

I remember reading this and I thought it was funny. Once, when a creator of the muppets was asked if Bert and Ernie were gay he responded, "Bert and Ernie are not gay. They're FREAKIN' puppets!!!"
(Exclude the "freakin'" part.)

Does that mean that Ayatollah Falwell's gaydar was wrong when he pronounced one of the Teletubbies gay? My lord.

Heck. None of them look gay to me.

I don't think that "there must be something there." But the probability is high just as the probability of humans succumbing to temptation is high. As one non-rabid common man observer said of Clinton's dalliance, it's easy to "tsk, tsk" about something like that and feel morally superior. But if you're just a regular guy like me instead of someone who is rich and/or powerful and/or famous, you're not so likely to have comely interns waving their thong panties under your nose and trying for all their worth to get some action with you. So, it's much easier to be so righteous when you don't get presented with so much temptation anyway.

As you know, I am a big believer in the innate evilness of man. So, I see your point and mostly agree. But that does not mean there is "something there" or that there probably is "something there." Have I missed a big Billy Graham scandal? Some leaders in the Christain community recognize that power can be dangerous and choose to make themselves accountable at all times. I'm not saying Dobson is above making some kind of mistake, I mean, King David made a couple of real doozies, but I don't think he is a "fraud" in the line of Bakker and Swaggart and he should not be called thus unless his "fraudulence" has been shown. Besides, it is one thing to think Dobson or anyone else is capable of making big mistakes: it is another to hope for it as Dogbert seems to.

And here's another clue for the terminally naive (I don't mean you, flakfizer). Ministers are famous for extra-marital dalliances -- hetero and homo. They're just in that position of authority and prestige among a group that they lead that increases the likelihood that someone is going to want to relate to them sexually as an "alpha" male or conversely that they're going to assume that they can foist unwanted sexual attention on their followers.

Famous, but why? I bet ministers have a lower rate of infedelity than average. But because they preach against such, it is big news when they do and they are proclaimed hypocrites. I mean, it is not news if a construction worker or postal carrier has an affair, but if you're clergy or a politician...ouch. That is not to excuse ministers-they should obviously not have any affairs at all, but people make mistakes no matter what their position.

What is disturbing about Dogbert's post is that he lumps a man who has not been involved in scandalous activities in with men who have, simply because he wishes it.

Telling on him, you mean.

Um, what the...huh?

How many of these god-damned Christian fundamentalist hypocrites have we given a pulpit to berate us about "family"?

Yeah. I wish there were fewer people out there "berating" us about family. Family is so overrated. I'm tired of all those "family values" movies coming out of Hollywood and all those pop, rock, rap, hip-hop, country songs about the importance of family. There is way more literature out there about "family" than there are pornographic materials. And the Internet is just littered with that family junk-I mean a great deal of the ten percent that isn't pornography is family-oriented. Besides, a 50% divorce rate is really pretty good when you think of it as a 50% successful marriage rate instead.

Enough is enough.

Dobson has no right to tell Americans how they should live.

Sooner or later, these types are shown up as the hypocrites they are, from the anti-gay crusaders who have homosexual relationships themselves, to these faux men of god who tell others how to live while being complete perverts themselves.

If that disturbs you, pray on it tomorrow at church.

Mr. dogbert,

Who is this Dobson character? I haven't come across him as far as I know. Has he written anything I can read?

Plenty. However, he is primarily a radio preacher.

Focus on the Family with Dr. James Dobson

"Is homosexuality genetic? Can it be prevented? How do I help a loved one who's gay? What should I say to my children?

There is freedom from homosexuality through the transforming love of God. That's why we've created Love Won Out, a dynamic, one-day conference offering information, inspiration and hope."

focusonthefamily.ca

"Our constantly expanding roster of programs, resources and initiatives for adults and children, churches and professionals includes:
* A daily radio broadcast with Dr. James Dobson
* A dozen magazines and Internet publications
* Books, videos and tapes
* Seminars and conferences
* Unique children's programming
* Research initiatives, briefings and news services
* Court interventions
* Media campaigns
* Partnering with churches across Canada"

Actually, he does...and so do you and I.

"These types"...nice.

If that disturbs you, pray on it tomorrow at church.

Are you mocking those who pray, those who attend church, or both?

Uhhh, yes he does. And you and those of your "type" have every right to not listen to him. Why is that free speech thing so hard for you to grasp?

You mean while I still have the right to do that.
