Quote:
Walter Jones, the Republican congressman for North Carolina who was also the brains behind french toast becoming freedom toast in Capitol Hill restaurants, told a local newspaper the US went to war "with no justification".

Why does Walter Jones hate America?

From the link:

"Although he voted for the war, he has since become one of its most vociferous opponents on Capitol Hill, where the hallway outside his office is lined with photographs of the "faces of the fallen".

"If we were given misinformation intentionally by people in this administration, to commit the authority to send boys, and in some instances girls, to go into Iraq, that is wrong," he told the newspaper. "Congress must be told the truth."

Um, nowhere does he say or give the indication he "hates America". From what I see is that if anything he loves his country.

Please bring your sarcasm detector into the shop for immediate repair work. It appears to be defective and could be causing you to miss vital information about the thoughts of others. Wink

Freedom fries was a stupid idea, and he is wrong again with his second comment.

The guy was never brilliant to begin with.

I really can't see how someone who questions the governments decisions (especially about something as important as war) can be labelled a hater of his country. I guess you're in line with Bush's ideology "if you're not with us, you're with the terrorists". If that's the case than it is you who needs the reality check.

He probably loves America, I never questioned his patriotism - only his good sense.

Given the fact that sarcasm normally comes with body language and/or a special voice tone, neither of which are present in PRINTED form, it just could be that the writer's writing skills are not good enough to make up for the difference.

It's not exactly an unusual joke to cite an instance of someone affirming a liberal idea and then asking why they hate America, as a way of satirizing some conservative's tendancies to accuse liberals of hating America. Browse some liberal blogs and you'll see it soon enough.
