Mithridates, I couldnt think of a worse example of 'successful' diversity than the one you gave, India. India is regularly wracked by Caste, racial and sectarian violence, caused by its over abundance of diversity. Simply posting a list of languages spoken in India is a shallow treatment of a complicated issue. |

| on the other hand, it has been a stable democracy since its independence. Not many former colonies can say the same. Just look at its neigbhors, Pakistan and Bangladesh. They wish they had the political stability India has had. Nepal too. I wouldn't throw out Mith's example that easily. |

Aside from Kashmir (not an internal issue anyway) my first thought was "Not bad for twenty-three official languages and independant only since WWII".
Besides, I could think of much worse examples. Nigeria. That was easy. |
