No s__t, Sherlock.

Hans wants to know the significance of the phrase- why it's a 'quotable quote' and where it comes from.

No need to apologize to me (though Hans might be offended that you apparently mistook him for a moron). Razz

http://www.snpp.com/episodes/2F19.html

I remember the episode... have no idea if it's referring to anything in particular. Starts off with all this stuff about budget problems, the teachers end up going on strike, then the PTA has an emergency meeting (where some random guy yells "the PTA has disbanded!" and jumps through the window before being reassured and coming back) and the members of the PTA end up replacing the teachers.

yeah, saw the same one, and am if anything a little too familiar with it. but i'm sure i've heard the same thing said on other shows or movies or books or something. without getting too far into the technicalities of humour, having an anonymous character jump out of the window just because the pta disbanded probably wouldn't work unless this had come close to happening before. eg 'oh my god! the miscelaneous workers' union/the red cross/the freemasons have disbanded! argg!, etc.'

apologies to non-simpsons fanatics
