Hi all,
I met today with a guy who wants me to sign on with him. Basically, I'll be his employee, but I'll be working at a foreign-owned company, and doing a bunch of other privates for him. He says that because he owns a language school, it's all on the up and up, and there's no legal problem. Anybody know about the legalities of this?
Also, he said that the foreign company needs to go through him because it's not legal for them to employ a language instructor directly. That sounds dodgy, is he lying? |

I know nothing about the legalities of this, but just from what you said, it does sound really dodgy, and looks like you could possibly get seriously shafted. I would be very wary. |

As far as I know, you need to get permission from Immigration to teach away from the building listed on your contract and residence card (though this little provision is frequently broken). So unless he has that permission, it's against the rules. |

It's illegal. with an E2 visa you can only work at the company that got you the visa. That means the physical address of where they are located. If they send you else (common) it is illegal. It is also common for teachers to get deported/fined for doing this.
I would avoid this person like SARS (the plague) |

I work in three different schools - but they are owned by the same guy. Is this legit? I don't want to get deported for that. |

No. You can only work at the location on your visa. Probably nothing will happen, but it is illegal. |

Also likely that if anyone gets caught, he'll be fined, not you. My hogwon was fined for this in 1998. |

Blue,
There's still no reason why you should run of being deported... your boss can list you at more than one location... it's just immigration needs to know... I think
