I am not what you called a hard core fisherman, but I have a lot of time off in the next couple of weeks and I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions of where to go and if it is possible to hire gear. Any idea of cost would be good too!

Catch and release only stuff.

Good source of fishing info here:
http://anglerstown.com/

Some of the best fishblogging in English (in the top 30 at least) in Korea:

He also has links to more Korean fishing sites.

It would help if we knew what you were after, exactly. For example, depending where you are, there is probably a bass club nearby. Many have monthly tournaments. Pay an entry fee, and they provide equipment. You can also win prizes. Here is the link for Daegu:

For fly fishing (trout), you can hire this guy as a guide:

Tight lines.

hey chewy,
i've got the next few weeks off as well. i had the idea to go fishing yesterday, so me and a coworker hopped in his car and decided to check it out. we went to one fishing shop (every other shop you see in this area is a fishing shop) and the woman was a little rude and had the most annoying voice in the world, so we left and decided to eat lunch. we stopped off at this great outdoor galbi restaurant, and got sidetracked eating ribs and drinking soju. we forgot all about the fishing plan.

but i'd be happy to take another crack at it. in these fishing shops you can rent everything you need. i'm thinking i might be more in the market to buy. i'm not sure yet. but i hear there are plenty of places to fish around here. i live up near ganghwa. if you're interested in coming out this way, send me a pm.

Wow fishing! That is something I have not done in a good 20 years, since back in Newf.

Not that I know how really, but it sounds great.
