Of course there is.
Busan.
Hey, for interest's sake, I hear President Rho Mu Hyun used to be the prez of the sailing club there.
If you're in Seoul it may be best to move to the coast, unless you can zip down on the weekends.
If you can take weeks off at a time I recommend you go to Thailand to do it.
There's a sail boat two blocks from my apartment, the only sailboat in the bay, surrounded by fishing vessels. I've been meaning to find out who owns it. I've been tempted to take up sailing myself. |

To the north-west of Seoul, on the north bank of the Han river, just outside the city limits there is what looks to be a small sailing club.
I must investigate one day as I used to do a lot of sailing myself in Merlin-Rockets, Fireballs and 505's mostly. It would be wonderful to sail again, even on the river. |

I doubt I am going to be nipping over to Thailand for a quick sail. I think it would be best for me to learn if I can make if for 5 minutes without projectile vomiting my gimchee all over the place. I will take a peek into the busan angle.
Wanja details on how to get to this place outside of Seoul?
Thanks for the heads up. |

Yeah, approximate location is as above. Take the Gangbyeon expressway out of Seoul towards Ilsan. Just after the city limit sign on the left is the sailing club. You could approach anywhere from hangang park itself as it is in the park, about 10 kilometres north west of Hangang Bridge.
I have yet to work out the road approach from the expressway, but will investigate Sunday. And maybe get a sail! |

Well, it is at the NW end of Han River Park, and there is a cycle track ... certainly there are no bus stops along the expressway, but maybe there is a parallel that I have yet to find.
All I know is that I see what looks like a a sailing club as I drive past twice a day. As soon as I have something more detailed, I'll post it. |

Hmmm maybe hurling myself off the expressway might help. Nah...
btw thanks Wanja I have always wanted to give sailing a try I hope I can get out on the river/rotten gimchee depository.
Might even head down to Busan next week I have the whole week off.
Anyhow thanks again. |

There's also this place:
http://www.seoulyacht.net/
I got this address from an English magazine that I saw in a bookstore. From the article I read in the magazine, you can rent boats here, but it is much cheaper if you are a paying memeber of the club. I've often though it would be fun to rent a large yacht, have about 30 people pool their money and have a party on the Han River. |
