|
|
I am planning to take an overnight train to Jinju from Seoul on Friday night.
I have taken the KTX from Seoul Station before but I have never taken the other train (Mugunghwa).
Does anyone know where I would go to buy my ticket and board the train? Also would I be able to buy a ticket just before I leave or do the ticket windows close at night?
Thanks for any help! |

It leaves Seoul at 22:52 and gets to Jinju at 05:13 .... not a super long trip but I think I'll probably sleep. |

I taught in JinJu one summer for a camp. Unless things drastically changed, the quickest way to get there was on a bus.
But if there is a train, best to get the ticket as soon as possible. Those things DO get sold out, and it would really suck to be standing on an overnight train.
You can buy train tickets at Seoul Station at the ticket windows. |

Don't know about a website but definitely try for the bus instead of the train.... And don't worry about trying for the express bus. Just the normal bus is hassle free and for whatever reason actually seems to be quicker. About 4 to 4 and half hours
Reckon i'll be might passing thru there myself this weekend..... biking it though, not busing..... |

I have the same problem. I was thinking of catching the overnight train from Seoul to Jinju, but taking a bus sounds like it may be a better option. I've never bought a bus or train ticket in Korea before. Can i get a train ticket at Seoul station??? Does anyone know how late the ticket booths are open for? I'll have to get it after work Friday night, so I'm hoping they'll still be open.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks!! |

You can buy train tickets at Seoul Station..
I am not sure how late they are open.. but I've been there past 9:30pm and the ticket windows were open.. I'm guessing open until the last train leaves (which is.. ahmm.. somewhere between 11pm and 1am? - I am not entirely sure on that).
Sorry can't be more precise.
Regarding bus stations.. Express Bus Terminal (near Gangnam) would be the place (unless its changed - its been awhile since I've taken a bus southbound - but thats the traditional place for buses southbound).
(Not sure when they close - probably right before the last bus leaves). |

OK, for what it's worth, here is what I found out about transportation from Seoul to Jinju:
1. you can fly. Korea Air flies twice daily. 8am and 5pm. Asiana: 9am and 3pm.
2. train - you know that already.
3. Bus:
a. from the Express Bus Terminal in Gangnam: 6am - midnight, every 20 minutes
from East Seoul Express Bus Terminal: 7am - 6pm, 5 times a day
Flying is an hour, train 5 hours 45 minutes and bus is 3 hours 50 minutes.
Deluxe bus is 18.500 won, normal bus is 15.600 won.
Hope this helps. |
