I have one more question which I neglected to include in my last posting, so here goes.

Would the South Korean Embassy or Consulate in Canada be able to advise me as to legal implications surrounding the issue of brining in and/or purchasing prescription medications in South Korea, or if I want a firm legal opinion, do I have to contact some high up person in Seoul?

Thanks again,

It's best to get your doctor to write you a three month prescription an get it filled before you leave. Then you have time to get settled and find a doctor that can continue to fill it if need be. That's what I did. I brought them in my carry on.

Cheers,

Kate

I had my prescription medicine sent from home every 3 months. I used to have my own medical insurance which didn't cover pills in Korea. Without Korean health insurance, to buy one month of my stuff in Korea was more expensive than to get 3 months supply DHl'd from home!.

Everytime I had to send a copy of my passport info page and a doctors letter explaining why I needed the meds. Then customs would release it for delivery. They have started asking for an email explaining what is in the Doctors letter. They've started charging me fees too.

Things got tighter around world cup time, I get more grief about one of my meds in particular.
