does anyone know where the heck you can go buy some quaker oats or something like it to make hot cereal in the morning? is it just me or does the cereal selection in korea really suck?

Costco - 20,000 won, Hannam Supermarket, Dandy's Grocery 25,000 won. (55 packs)

Wal-Mart also sells oatmeal, but its own brand, not Quaker. (10 packs for 3500 won.)

Costco only has the instant. Dandy's Market (at Hannam Market ) has the Quaker Old-Fashioned or Quick Oats. Wal-mart has their brand instant, as well.

To buy the Quaker's Oatmeal, in the big container, go to Namdaemun and find the underground market. They'll sell it for 8-10,000 won.

You can also try those 'anything stores'. You know, the little 'gift stores' that are crammed to the gills with fake flowers, glassware, slippers, clocks, etc, and also have a tiny section of foreign stuff like Tang, salad dressing, Colgate toothpaste, deodorant, shaving foam and, more often than not, Quaker Oats. Every city seems to have these stores, or at least I've seen them in Gyeongju, Cheongju, Suwon and Busan. My little local 'anything shop' up the road - in SE Daegu - has all of the these things plus, hallelujah, Aunt Jemima pancake syrup, and boxes of Kraft Dinner. When and if they ever start stocking pesto sauce I will kiss the manager full on the mouth.
