Some users will already know that I'm not the...ahem...biggest booster of this program(a classic understatement). That said, if anyone wants to get out of the hagwan hell & give public school a shot via EPIK, you should be aware that the application deadline is JUNE 18 this year.

Kindness is my middle name. Besides, I want others to share in the glory that is EPIK. ;)

As for me resigning "again", well...I don't want to get anyone's hopes up.

You seem a bit cranky today. Are you a Leafs fan, perhaps?

I "got" my pay on Friday but only after I went to the bank at 4 p.m. & only to find my account empty. My liason teacher was busy teaching an extra class(natch) but another English teacher, bless her soul, got on the horn to the office & basically told them to get their s*** together. At 5 p.m., my pay appeared in my account. Apparently, the office's excuse was that they hadn't "bothered" to look after my pay. So I suggested that maybe I won't "bother" to show up on Monday.

I know we're in the same province and all the EPIKs should bloody well have a meeting w/the prov. nabobs to get this settled & raise s***. But they won't arrange even that-scared of rebellion, I guess.

Another clue as to why JET has to reject a few thousand applicants every year while EPIK struggles to recruit 200. BTW if anyone thinks I'm whining over an isolated case, that was the 4th time in 20 months I've been paid late.

In the light of the above, I would like to issue this public service announcement-a direct quotation from the EPIK website:

"you[EPIK teachers]are always paid in full and paid on time, unlike[at] some private academies."

Uh, huh....

What is the deal with EPIK?

I looked at the website and I am more perplexed by the application process than anything.....

The application process is bit of a joke but relatively straightforward. PM me if you want advice about that. Ask specific questions....

EPIK is getting a failing grade with EFL-Law.

I'm a bit puzzled, phaedrus. I posted a thread some time ago about EPIK being downgraded by EFL-Law. It went from A- to B-, not F. I think B- is a bit too generous but even I wouldn't give it an F. Where did you get the "failing grade" bit from?

PS:check out the EFL-Law link that compares it w/JET & NET. That's where it gets B-.

It's been changed for about a month now.

Well, bud, I checked it and it still says "B-". Certainly, EPIK looks a poor third to JET/NET-no argument there.

It definantly says F.
I looked at EPIK but thought I would take an easier hagwon job.

I think it might die due to what the government might do with after school classes.

Is the page you're viewing saved on your computer from last year?

It looks like they get an F to me.

Strange, phaedrus. I opened your link about 15 hrs. ago & it still showed B-, but tried it today, and sure enough, there's a big blue F!

Wow. Even I'm stunned, and I'm probably the biggest EPIK critic at Dave's. From A- to F in a year! Personally, I probably would have given a grade of C- or D.

Will this finally be a wake-up call for the programme's nabobs? If past precedent is a guide...not bloody likely.
