Hi all,

I have noticed a few threads over the last little while looking for baby stuff.

Maybe we can sort of form a thread here to assist each other dealing with baby issues.... Expat newborns or mixed babies in Korea.

I know that we were having a hard time finding some kinds of baby stuff that was reasonable or affordable.

We did find 2 department style stores in the Namdaemun market that had newborn stuff for reasonable prices. Tons of stuff for toddlers too.

Sleepers and one-piece outfits for 2500-5000 won. Diapers were there too, but not the style we are used to back home. Yes, we know that disposables are easy to find here. Outfits for newborns from w5000 and up.

If anyone knows where we can find one of those swings for babies (wind-up or battery operated) it would be nice. The only site we found was a Korean rental place.

Feel free to post hospital information, questions and anything else you can think here.

Maybe this can become a sticky for general newborn and new family information and resources. If there is already a thread for this (I couldn't find it) can someone please provide a link.

Thanks.

There's a lot more available now than there was, even just in the last few years. You can get a baby swing at Costco, also several sizes of carseats (from newborns up to booster seats). They also have exersaucers. It's all more expensive than it would be in the West.

Korean baby clothes are (IMO) generally ugly and made of cheap fabrics that don't wash or wear well. But many of the companies that ship to Korea (Lands End, Hanna Andersson) have good infant/toddler departments as well. Like this:
