...or more specifically, the F-2-1 visa which has just been stamped in my passport, which arrived back from immigration today with my alien registration card. I'm curious as to exactly what my status is with this visa. Does anyone know? Can I now work independently and tutor students privately? Cool (That would be too cool, so I'm sure it's not the case Wink ) Anyways, I would appreciate any feedback from those in the know...
Regards,
Draven

no, you need an F-4, which is easily obtainable and it allows you to work without a separate visa for 2 years

Yes the F2-1 does allow you to tutor. I have one and I have permission to tutor privately in English.
The illegal notion about privates is from the E2 and immigration. Once you have the F2-1 you can go to the Education department and apply for permission to tutor.
Immigration does not issue the permit for tutoring...the education dept. does.
You DO NOT need a degree for tutoring, only high school. If you are a student in Korea you do not need permission to tutor either.
There are restrictions however..including the number of students you can have. I am not sure if this is different from city to city as I am in Busan and can only give info for here.

f-4 is easily obtainable? I think it is only for those with Korean ancestors...
