Hello all,
I'm currently in Seoul on a 90 day stay, but want to head over to Japan(Osaka) and come back in to Korea with a working holiday visa. The req's are:
Proof of bank balance in excess of $US3000
Brief Itinerary
Passport
Return Ticket
and a few other small things.

My question is does anybody know how long it will take if I just show up at the embassy with these doc's and the money? Is it possible to mail the application over first, and just pick it up?
The concern is that I'm not sure I want to stay in Japan too long, it sounds expensive!

Your help is greatly appreciated,
Alex

sorry - i don't know how long it will take, but i do know a very good cheap hotel in osaka. it's called "escargot" and it costs about Y2,000 a night. even has a bathhouse. it is very central. yu can find the location by asking at the tourist information office at the airport when yu arrive.

should save yu some money.

Hi Alex.

When applying for an H1 Visa to Korea from Canada it only takes 1-2 days (usually 1 business day); I would assume that it's the same from Japan. Also, you should be able to politely inform them that your flight back to Korea is within 48 hours and they'll probably accomodate you (as long as you say it in a really humble, "I'm so sorry to bother you but" kind of way, because as you probably know: Koreans hate any indication of pride/arrogance).

Let us know how it goes....
