Working-Holiday Visas
As of 1 July 1995, in accordance with a reciprocal arrangement between the Government of the Republic of Korea and the Government of Australia, Australian citizens can apply for a working-holiday visa.

Conditions Required
Intend primarily to holiday in the Republic of Korea and also to
engage in employment as an incidental aspect of that holiday in
order to supplement travel expenses.
Aged between 18 to 30 years.
Single entry visa and a period of sojourn for a working-holiday
valid for one year.
The foreigner may not be employed as receptionist, dancer, singer, musician, acrobat etc. at places of entertainment which might endanger good morals and manners, or engage in types of business which go against the tenor of the agreement, such as provide medical treatment and other professions which require certain qualifications in accordance with domestic law.
* Note : If the sojourn exceeds 90 days after the date of entry, the foreigners shall register with the immigration office with jurisdiction over the place of sojourn.

I am the proud(?) owner of one of these babies, and will be in Korea for another 7 months. I want to work but am a little unclear about what will be legal as the wording is a little ambiguous. Can I teach english in any capacity? I don't want to work at a hagwon as I won't be here long enough to fulfill the contract, but what else is available here?

As far as I know, you can work anywhere that'll hire you for 3 months.
