I learned how to drive here in Korea and I guess I developed some boy racer tendencies. Just got two 15 point tickets to my old address (wierdly enough as my new one is on my license). My students told me that 40 points over 100 days = suspension. I think there is a good chance that I have got another ticket on the way.

I feel suitably chastened by the tickets but couldn't really argue with a suspension either. Has this ever happened to anyone? How long is the suspension for? Is 40 points a hard line?

For some offences the license cancellation is immediate. e.g. DUI, etc.

For the rest, more than 121 points in one year, 201 points in two years, 271 points in 3 years constitutes immediate suspension.

If it does get suspended then (assuming you have paid the fine) not driving, going to traffic school or model behaviour etc make the points go away. for specifics read the DoT publications.

15 pointers are
1. speeding by more than 20 less than 40
2. no over taking zone
3. phone usage whilst driving

I'm guessing 1. speeding and you live in a large city like Seoul.
