I lived in Pyeongtaek for about 2 years and really loved it. Its about 55 minutes on train to Seoul...about the same time by bus. There are trains like every 10 minutes because nearly ever train stops there on the way to Seoul.
Its really close to the American Base...Osan AB. There is tonnes of shopping, great Western restaurants ('Puffin' is the best tho), lots of nightclubs...and ones without Juice Girls.
Its a small city around 350,000 but it has everything. Because of the fact that there are so many Americans running around, a lot of locals speak English...Downside, EVERYONE thinks you're in the army.
I highly recommend the place, not a lot of greenery if that's your thing tho. I'm used to the concrete jungle so it never bothered me...wanna know me, PM me.
