I've only been to Hongdae once before and was wondering where the best clubs / bars are. I went to Honky Tonk before which wasn't bad. I just want to avoid too many GIs if possible. Feel free to PM me if you know of a cool place but don't want the whole board to know about it.

p.s. Its the Hongik subway stop right?

Yeah its at Hongik subway stop. Find the McDonalds right in front of the University entrance. Facing the entrance to the university, walk down the hill to the right. All the bars are down there.

You can't avoid G.I.'s in Hongdae, sorry. But there aren't as many as there used to be. The most popular foreigner hangouts are:

Route 66
Stompers
Hodge Podge
MI

I'd personally go to Stompers if you're looking for a fun night and its only your second time in Hongdae. It gets packed by 12:30am and doesn't let up till about 5 or so. Some GI's but mostly teachers, not many korean girls if thats your thing. Usually the white chicks outnumber the korean girls. If you're going to be in the area, I recommend cruising the bars in Shinchon before hand, then hitting Hongdae.

Thanks Jack, much appreciated. I'm glad at least one person was good enough to offer some help.
