Ok Waterbaby, thanks for the uplift. I sure needed that. I just felt so dissappointed in these results. Onwards and upwards as the saying goes. |

Oooh yeah! Good for you He doesn't like that you've done your homework. That answer is a very standard response when you query a contract... or the law! At first they're all over you, but when they know that you're not a "sucker" they don't want you. I think you've saved yourself from the job from hell. Don't give up! |
People looking for suckers don't offer jobs with below average hours and above average pay.
It is exceptionally unlikely that this school was only considering her and probably had resumes from many other people including some people with experience working in Korea. Someone better had applied. Thus there is no need to step into the world of conspiracy theories of "you were too smart!" |

It is highly likely that there were other applicants for the same job. I bet one of them signed the dotted line with a big smile and without questions. C'mon... what would a Korean HAKWON Director prefer... someone who question things??? |

point 10-4 is something else. it means you must pay the airfare and recruitment cost (an agency, which charges the school 1.5 million these days). if airfare is a million won, that's 2.5 million won. and if you leave before six months is out there's not getting your airfare remibursement, another million. you would be out 3.5 million won. if you left after two months that's breaking even, not to mention set-up costs. talk about stapled into behaving with best intentions. personally, i haven't noticed this 'responsible for the costs of obtaining a replacement teacher' pronouncement before. i left one job after three months, and another after six and the bosses didn't point at a 10-4. |
