|
|
As a matter of interest, does anyone know of any inventions which had their birth in Korea? In my experience, Koreans often take credit for inventing virtually everything, including most toy-related merchandise,..."You mean you didn't know that Korea invented 'Lego'?!!".
My two noteworthy mentions would be:
1) The innovations in the field of cellular phone technology, and...
2) The 'fading' car horn
3) Ehhhmmm, sorry, that's it... |

Yeah but guggenheim (spelling is bad) deserves credit, because dissemination is everything. If no-one uses it or cares then what's the point. |

Don't forget about hangul. the most scientific writing system in the world. as if koreans would ever let us forget that one. It also leads them to say the korean is the most scientific language and the closest language to perfection.
The also invented ironclad ships.

Excellent post. Ive often wondered about this. I did a few quick searches on the internet and came up with the following...
-The hat umbrella
-Thermal message bed
-Acupuncture hulla-hoop
-A combination tissue dispensor/waste basket
-Multi device switching system for apartments
-Microphone system for cell-phones
-Easy open pop cans (never been produced)
-Battery charger that uses the power created while riding a bike
I found an article in the Korean herald that claimed internet cafes and video rooms are korean inventions, but i don't buy that.
So, basically, the only significant korean invention ever made was the hat umbrella. |

For more information on the hat umbrella, go here.
Has an excellent picture as well. Unfortunatly, this particular hat umbrella has never been produced. I don't quite no why, but... |

One future invention they may wish to consider:
A contraption to insert into the osophagus to ensure a time-released, measured portion of rice and gimchi into the stomach every hour or so.
I mean, come on, have you every had a Korean give a negative response to the question,"Are you hungry?". I have seen locusts more satiated... |

Just telling you what students have told me. You're not suggesting that my students are misinformed are you?
By the way, the seedless watermelon tastes like seedless crap. |

I guess my humor is a bit too dry. Rest assured I don't go to my students for factual information. |
