First of all, can anybody point me to links of rankings of countries according to their TOEIC/TOEFL scores?

What's with the legions with their TOEFL books all over Seoul these days? Man, Myong-dong and around Kangnam station is full of TOEFL zombies during the day/evening. Is there a worse way to learn English than by not speaking it? Ever tried to strike up a conversation with someone holding a TOEFL book? Try it sometime, just for the heck of in.
(Yep, definitely been here too long if that's my definition of fun. But at least I realize that I'm afflicted )

And by the way, what do you think about the recent changes in the TOEFL test? Speaking will now become mandatory starting in a few months. This in response to complaints from foreign unis. where east asian student's abilities didn't match their scores.

I say good, for if we survive the next few months intact, then those students will have to come our way for lessons etc.....as the TOEFL hagwon racket/industry isn't set up to provide speaking help, that's for sure.

Interesting topic. I've never taught a TOEFL class but I have taught a TOEIC, and after much thought on the effectiveness of such a class I have come to the conclusion that it is meant for people who who want to pretend to be learning English without doing any actual work.

But then, that can be said about a lot of other classes in Korea as well.

Just my thoughts.
