Just a heads up out to Aussies who are curious about their pension refunds. I applied for mine the other day (apparently I was the first Aussie in Korea to do it) and the application went through without any major problems. I was told it should take around three days to clear after my departure from the country has been confirmed. The payments are retro active as promised. If you've got any major questions I would totally recommend first calling up head office. I found all their information to be totally spot on.

Beauty mate!!

Can you give us an idea of what kind of $$$$ to expect?

I have worked for 2 years on an average of 2.1 million won each month. I'm not going to ask you for your sum since that's personal.

I'll be leaving in October and applying for pension refund from two countrie for a total of four years. Sweet!

IF your employer enrolled you in the NPS (all public schools and very few hagwans) your refund should be in the neighborhood of 9% of your total earned salary over the length of time in Korea. (your monthly 4.5% deduction + your employers matching contribution).
