Is "aiight" a word?
Perhaps it is a shortened form of "all night".
Or "Alight" as in ablaze.
A Korean sound of disgust?
The noise you make when you hork?
Or is it just...um....pretentious?
I'm gonna have to go with that one. |

at the gym I go to they wouldn't allow one of our other teachers join because he has a Korean wife, though they allowed me to join along with another teacher here along with hogwon teachers. |

There are few nations in this world that have achieved a truly multicultural/racial society. My favorite role models for this is Singapore and Malaysia (and it didn't even take them so long). Anyone care to add to the list? |
I was in Malaysia in 2000 and I don't know if this immigration rule is still in effect but at that time there were no Israeli citizens allowed into Malaysia. |

i spoke to my building manager about the gym owner, and he said it was quite likely that he was uncomfortable with the language thing. anyway, mole hills and all that, i joined another gym no problems. like i said, i didn't let it get to me, as i've had a lot of positive dealings with the locals of late, actually way more than the negative. and i guess it's fair enough that if he thought some of the ajumas might not be comfortable with me around, they are usually the bread and butter of gyms here. |

It's nautical, like "Aye-Aye". Example;
"Hey Skipper, go get your own damned coconuts! Aiight." |

Unless you are serious into body building you can do this. Go to Walmart and buy some dumbbells.(If you are in that area) They have extra metal weights you can purchase because chances are 12.5 kgs per dumbell are not enough.
I forget the price but I know they were less than a months gym membership in the Kangnam area.
You can do a full body workout with dumbells, at least enough to stay toned. Benefits: no expensive memberships, no Korean guys bother you, no staring in the shower, travel time etc., Also when you are tripping over the weights everyday you tend to use them more.
The only problem is cardio and the social aspects. You do tend to meet some decent people in the gym.
Sorry to hear about your situation. |

I must be lucky.
At my gym Technohealth in the middle of Pusan (and let me say there are some big boys that go there to some that have made the comment koreans don't do weights properly) I must be lucky.
Koreans one month 55,000 won
Foreigner one month 50,000 won.
Mind you it is right next to Texas Street and a large Russian community |

I think I'm the only person at the gym I attend with a blank application card. Oh, and no key for the lockers!!?, and the showers are always cold, and the ajuummas stare and talk about me, and the owner follows my routine closely, and there are no shirts or shorts, and there's no A/C, and I think the machines were bought from a yardsale... I could go on, but it's cheap and I got the usual notariety/celebrity of being "The foreigner".

I haven't had any problems at my new gym (and I looked at several before joining up to this one) apart from hauling my butt to it.
