But, did you visit the worlds worst red light district? That's the real question.

No no no no no. We are talking about 60 year old women with drooping everything wh*ring themselves away out in Do-gu. This is no ordinary red light district. This is the worlds worst red light district. Its just past the airport. Im fortunate enough to work right across from it.
And yes, strolling through counts as visiting. I would not visit this red light district for anything.

Er...thank you Whatthefunk for that detailed description of a day in Pohang...my question is, was this "new guy" new to YOUR school, or just a fellow that came to work in Pohang? I mean, if this fellow is just new to the area and at a different school...I mean, DAY-um, that is one swift grape vine...and that is good to know it is there....

Otherwise, it sounds pretty "normal" -- but as you say, it's all perspective....

Nope, he works downtown, only foreigner at his school. Yes, the grapevine is fast. Its both good and bad.

I suppose its normal in a Pohang kind of way. Just smaller and more concentrated waygookness than elsewhere.

Well, Ive only seen two. And I think they were just filling in for their husbands because the picture on the licence was very clearly not a woman.
So here's the real question...if there are three hundred taxi drivers and one goat standing behind three hundred and one doors, what are the odds of opening a door with a three-headed, female sheep behind it? Yes, figure that one out and then come talk to me.

Well, the frequency of finding a three headed female sheep depends on the weather and the time of month. Assuming that it is raining and that its the first of the month, 13 out of every 1000 taxi drivers is a three headed female sheep. There is a slight increase around the middle of the month and by the 22, there are virtually no three headed female sheep to be found. They come out less in the sun, but more in the winter when its cold. They wear glasses. Beware.

Pohang: the only good birdwatching site on the East coast. You're probably not interested, but for your information:- Pohang is good for birds because of the geography. To the south of the coast there is a sort of peninsula/promontory that sweeps out in a gentle arc. This acts as a less disturbed water bay area that "catches" and attracts birds migrating/ wintering on the coast. The water here is much clearer than the west coast, so sea ducks, etc are able to see their submarine food better.
If you're condemned to a boring term in Pohang, you could at least take up birdwatching: get yourself a book and binoculars- you won't look back.

I'm in Kyungju, but close to Pohang, and I remember about a year ago hearing wild geese flying over the city for about a week. They'd fly along the river and then go inland as part of their long journey to a warmer climate.

Never knew where they came from, and am still wondering.
