The geese are winter visitors to the area, from as far off as Siberia and the arctic circle. Its cooler for them to spend the winter here than there. They start the winter more northerly, but as the temperature plunges even lower, around Nov, they move a bit more south, to the Pohang/ Busan area. make a nice winter sight flying in V- formation.
They're actually a prime indicator of global warming, because the milder the winter, the further north they spend the winter months, to have just the right temperature. Over the past 25 years they've actually shifted their wintering grounds northwards by about 1500km, worldwide.

Tentative arrival date of September 13th, assuming no delays with the Consulate in Chicago stamping the visa in my passport.

Pohang, here I come....

wow, isn't it ironic with all this talk of birds and bird watching, tha the chicken man has returned to his roost in Pohang (spotted last night). BUT!!!!......is it really chicken? the previous posts have me thinking...
questions:
Why is his chicken better than all others?
Why does let out an evil laugh as he serves you?
why has he been on Vacation for just over 2 months? (this is korea, no one has vacation that long)

answers
I think he is serving us endagered species of exotic east coast birds.
We make him rich and he is serving us spotted dottrel and snow goose.
He takes a 2 month poaching holiday every summer vacation..........jesus he probably serves us children.....AAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGggggggrrrrrrrrrhhhh

Still, tastes good, what we don't know don't hurt us . Hurrah for apathy

Ive seen alot of cranes around, but that's about it. Next time I go out, Ill keep my eyes open.

More importantly, the Chicken Man has returned. Yes, I know that you're all very excited, but plese form a line to the left and keep calm...there is enough chicken for everyone.
My associate asked where he had been and he said something that sounded alot like 'Baha', but Im not sure. Then he said 'Summer Vacation.' So as far as I can guess, the Chicken man took the Chicken Wife and the Chicken Kids to Baha and spent two months sitting on the beach thnking of anything but chicken. I need to change professions....

I'm in Kyungju, and I've started teaching my adult classes. Had lunch with some of the ladies, and they mentioned that the divorce rate is very high in Pohang, because of the many people who work in Posco on alternate shifts. When the husbands are working the night shift many lonely wives take to chatting on the internet, meeting up with prospective suitors and having affairs.

You can go fishing in Pohang. But the worms are more like mutated millipedes and the fish have between 1 and 7 eyes.

Inexile, whattefunk sorry I'm late with the reply to my initial question about wether or not you can speak Korean.

Was in a coffee shop in Pohang, and one of the cute agashis said she delivered coffee to an English teacher who spoke good Korean. Thought it might have been one of you guys.

Nah C3 only knows to ask lewd questions, it would of been the mad scotsman.
also....What the Funk is a terrible fisherman, but is pretty handy with the soju bottle.
and.....wheres the gadfly? We have organised a small tickertape parade for his/her arrival, local dignitaries are going to attend and the pohang ajumma association is making Kimchee Jigae for all.
