I am set to go home in 8 days. Are there any formaities I have to go through to leave the country? For example, do I have to talk to Immigration before I leave and maybe hand in my Alien Card? Any help you can give me would be much appreciated! |

Not sure about Alien Card but do you forsee coming back to Korea??
If not, then claim your pension. You've probably got a good 900,000 won to your credit there over a one year period.
Thing is, if you do this now and come back, I believe you need to pay it back.
Someone correct me if wrong.

Put in the paperwork for your pension definitely. It will be paid into your account one month after you leave, more of less. Your employer was required by law to pay into it, doubling the amount deducted monthly from your paycheck.
(With regard to matthew's question, I don't know either, but I'm looking for a payout from my last job soon, and am not leaving, other than to go and get a tourist visa. This may be 'against the rules,' but how am I, an uniformed waeguk-in, to know better than a university finance department, huh?)
The alien card is handed in when you leave, at customs. Other than that, you should be good to go. |

All that happens with the Alien card is that on the way out through the airport they will see on your passport that you are not coming back and ask you to give the Alien card to them. Thats it...have a nice flight. |
