Hello, I have just been offered a job in the Mok-dong area. I can see on a map of Seoul that this area seems a little far from the central Seoul area. Can anyone tell me a little about this area please? Is it a nice area? How far away is it from all of the "action."
They have offered me 2.1 million won and I'm guessing I won't get that much if I teach at a school in the central area of Seoul. Any thoughts?

Mark,
I live in Mok-dong. It is in a great part of the city. It is only about 30 minutes away from most of the major entertainment districts. Plus, it is clean. Everyone I know who lives here likes it. |

I lived not too far from Mok-dong but knew it quite well as my wife worked there so we'd hang out there for shopping and dinner. Yeah it's fine and clean like Alias said plus it is renowned for having some of the best schools and institutes. If you get any privates they'll pay top dollar because the housing costs there are very high. Go for it, you'll love it.... |
