Yeah.. What's happened to the severance part?

My univ just informed us we will not be getting severance for the time we've been working there (this is the third year).

Has severance been scrapped? Can my univ withold payment for the first two years when there was a severance payment article in the labor act?

Pretty frustrating to hear about this.. Hope there's something I've missed?

Found the Korean version of the Labor Standards Act.

1 - Go to http://www.moel.go.kr/view.jsp?cate=4&sec=1
2 - Center page there are 9 horizontally spaced tabs, click the 3rd from the left. In Korean it says 근로기준관련.
3 - Under the first header, 법률, click the first link, 근로기준법. This is the LSA.

You can print/save any section(s) you need by checking the box(es) just to the left of the text. So far, what I've needed has matched perfectly with the English version I downloaded from the MOEL website.

Have a labor complaint? The nature of it will determine where to grieve your case:

LABOR BOARD
1) claim for unpaid wages, severance, or overtime
2) claim for sexual harassment
3) claim for industrial accident

LABOR COMMISSION
1) claim for unfair dimissal
2) claim for unfair suspension, transfer, or wage reduction
3) claim for unfair labor practices
