In Slovakia, most of babies born last year were given these names:

Samuel, Martin, Jakub, Patrik, Adam, Matej (male)
Viktoria, Kristina, Natalia, Dominika, Sofia, Vanesa (female)

While the male names are more or less Slovak-sounding, traditional names (except for Samuel), the girls are getting names which are nowadays popular in many countries.
Surprisingly I didn't find the name Zuzana in this register (it seems like every 3rd girl of my age is called Zuzana:D) Well, so it goes, the fashion changes fast.

I'm waiting for the time when my name will be among the favourite Very Happy I know very few people who are called like me :/

so what about your country?

I live in Canada which is a vast country with many ethnic groups so I think it varies quite a bit from area to area. My community is German but you'll find very few German names in the present generation. Here are some of the names in my son's junior school:

Girls: Kaitlin, Kelly, Dawson, Nicole, Karah and Karlee. Boys: Cameron, Tyson, Ryan, Jayden, Aidan and Matthew.

I have three young boys Hadleigh, Aidan and Riordan, my older children, who have now left home, are Darrell and two girls Janine and Lindsay.

I like this thread a lot!

It's true what Roger says, though there's this phenomena of naming the girls Camila and Ana Mara and boys, Carlos and Jos... it's really nuts!

Hi! Very Happy I'm a college student in Japan.

To tell the truth,I don't konw about common names in detail,
but I can guess about them.

Formerly,there are some common names,
though popular names are changed as times change,
while these days, parents often name their children uncommon names.
(but common names still exist around me)

So,the occurrence that I can't pronounce the names will be increase in the near future,
and I will name my child uniqe name too,if I have a baby.
